Yesterday, 6/26/13, Senator Murray and the Senate Budget Committee held a hearing on the impact of federal budget decision on children (our future). A graduate of Head Start spoke to the difference the program made in her life – helping her to be an Honor Roll student each year.
Senator King challenged the speaker from the Heritage Foundation, saying he was sure that all the time he spent reading to his own 2- and 3-year-old children and grandchildren has made a difference. The point is that for children whose parents are unable (due to time or education) to do that, preschool is critical.
Please take a few moments to look at the material from this hearing.
