Witness Wednesdays on Capitol Hill in DC

Witness Wednesdays:  at the U.S. Capitol and live-streamed

3 million long-term jobless people and their families are going without unemployment benefits because Congress has failed to restore them.

Our friends at Center for Effective Government have created Witness Wednesdays, a new forum to give voice to the unemployed and to tell Congress it must act.  CHN is proud to co-sponsor these events, along with the National Employment Law Project and the National Women's Law Center.  If you are in DC, we urge you to come to the House Triangle (near the corner of Independence Ave. SE and New Jersey Ave. SE) to stand with the jobless.  If you're not near, join by computer by clicking here.  Among those giving voice to the needs of the jobless:  Rep. Sandy Levin (House leader of efforts to restore unemployment insurance), and many other House members.

It is essential that we hold Congress accountable for abandoning the jobless.  Please read below and listen to the stories of the families harmed,  But don't just bear witness:  tell your Senators and Rep to stop hurting millions of people and the economy by sending these emails.

The first event will take place on June 11th from 12:30-1:15 p.m. at the House Triangle on Capitol Hill. Please join us as we give voice to the stories of unemployed Americans.

Subsequent Witness Wednesday dates: June 18, June 25, July 9, July 16, July 23, and July 30.
