Do undocumented workers pay taxes?

Actually, yes. Congressional Budget Office research indicates that between one-half and two-thirds of undocumented workers pay social security taxes, Medicare taxes, file tax returns, or some combination of the three. Their significant involvement indicates that the majority of undocumented workers are willing to contribute to the United States. The estimated economic benefit of legalizing undocumented workers over the next decade would be an additional $1.5 trillion, a figure that demonstrates the necessity of effective immigration reform.(Center for American Progress, Principles for Immigration Reform, p11)
