How has our broken immigration system led to child labor?

Because of an exemption in child labor laws regarding agriculture, parental consent can allow minors to work unlimited hours. As a result, 400,000 children must balance education with pesticide exposure, musculoskeletal injuries, dangerous farm equipment, and backbreaking labor. Because of the piece work payment, only the most efficient children make anything close to minimum wage. Comprehensive Immigration reform must remove this exemption in order to restore dignity and justice to nearly half a million children.
