How will immigration reform affect our current economic crisis?

Reforming our immigration system is an essential component of our economic recovery. Currently many undocumented immigrants work in an underground economy; getting paid extremely low wages and being treated unfairly by employers looking to exploit them. Studies show that if the United States legalized undocumented workers $1.5 trillion in GDP would be produced over a ten-year period. Legalizing workers will increase their wages, tax revenues and consumption.
