Should states pass legislation to fix the immigration system?

No, state legislation is ineffective and hurts the economy. The federal government has the responsibility for fixing our broken immigration system. Laws such as Arizona’s SB 1070 are expensive and go against our civil liberties by questioning innocent people about their immigration status. We need law enforcement officials to focus on serious threats to our nation, not ordinary families who are contributing positively to our neighborhoods and our nation.
