What’s NETWORK’s response to the president’s discretionary spending freeze in the 2011 federal budget?

While NETWORK applauds the president’s awareness of our precariously growing deficit, a discretionary spending freeze isn’t the way to address the problem. Instead, examining and streamlining non-combat defense spending would be more cost effective and less detrimental to programs currently in effect. We must also look to progressive tax policy as an opportunity to increase revenue and reduce the deficit.
