Why must non-combat defense spending be addressed, reorganized and improved immediately?

Non-combat defense spending must be examined and restricted immediately because we’ve allowed it to escalate out of control. More specifically, weapons systems and equipment unwanted by either the Pentagon or the Secretary of Defense remain, inexplicably, in the federal budget. While combat defense spending is necessary to protect our troops in conflict, a fact NETWORK is fully aware of, non-combat defense spending has become unconscionably bloated. Reallocating our precious resources into job training programs, the Child Tax Credit, an Earned Income Tax Credit increase, and funding for the National Housing Trust Fund would benefit our nation immeasurably.
