What have we learned from the recent economic downturn?

The economic meltdown created an extremely fluid landscape. It is difficult to predict accurately how all of this will “shake out,” but we do believe that the economy will continue to be at the center of much of the movement in this session of Congress – especially regarding financial regulation and jobs.

In a healthy economy, enough money moves through the hands of enough people so that most can buy the necessities of life. In a meltdown, the money flow stops: you can’t buy groceries because I can’t pay your wages because the person who bought my products can’t pay me.
