Washington DC: As a way to counter the constant negative rhetoric of politicians focused on cutting taxes despite how those cuts hurt the people of our nation, NETWORK has launched a social media campaign called#TaxpayerPride Day. It is meant to celebrate the long list of programs and services our taxes pay for that make us a stronger, better, more humane country.
Faith and justice call all of us to pay our fair share in taxes for the common good.
Today, we are asking everyone to share #TaxpayerPride photos on Facebook and Twitter.
We are asking participants to:
- Choose something their tax dollars pay for that gives them #TaxpayerPride
- Take a photo with anything that brings them #TaxpayerPride
- Post their photos to social media today using the #TaxpayerPride hashtag or, if they don’t use social media, send their photos to [email protected] and we’ll post them.
The message is clear: We are fed up with budget cuts that harm people. We proudly pay our fair share in taxes with the knowledge that our tax money supports the common good.
