The Big Bad Republican budget reconciliation bill (H.R.1), signed into law on July 4, 2025 by President Trump, does the exact opposite of what our An Economy for All policy agenda demands. It robs our communities of dignity, of our sacred call to care for each other so that everyone thrives without exception. In tough times–cuando la vida se ponía difícil–our grandparents, parents, and neighbors leaned on each other. The moral safety net woven into our federal budget helped us do what we have always been called to do: care for one another. Programs like Medicaid, SNAP, and school lunches were how we said nos cuidamos.

Why would the 119th Congress and the Administration destroy generations of care in our economy? To pay for billions in tax giveaways to the bill’s ultra-wealthy backers.

We cannot build An Economy for All–Una Economía Para Todos–when our leaders prioritize billionaires over hardworking Americans. We deserve a future where we all have food on the table, quality health care, and safety in our neighborhoods, whether we vacation on a yacht, work the third shift, or have to stay home to care for an elderly parent.
