Frequently Asked Donation Questions
We appreciate your support of NETWORK. Below are some questions that you may have about donating online or renewing your NETWORK membership.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Donations to NETWORK Lobby are not tax-deductible. Contributions to NETWORK Advocates are tax-deductable to the extent allowed by law.
What is the difference between NETWORK Lobby and NETWORK Advocates?
NETWORK Lobby is 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization and as such focuses primarily on advocacy and lobbying.
Federal law requires 501(c)(4) organizations to operate exclusively for the promotion of social welfare.
IRS regulations allow NETWORK Lobby to engage in some political and legislative activities. We are allowed to lobby for legislation essential to our mission of social justice. However, we are restricted from advocating for or against a specific candidate.
As a result NETWORK Lobby contributions support the following activities:
- Lobbying Congress in support of our issues
- Providing legislative support for bills that further our mission
- Organizing calls to action of our Spirit-filled network
NETWORK Advocates (also known as NETWORK Education Program) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and as such focuses primarily on educating our network of justice-seekers in order to engage effectively with the political process.
Federal law requires 501(c)(3) organizations to operate exclusively for a charitable purpose, which includes such activities as providing relief for the poor, defending civil rights and advancing education, science or religion. In addition, regulations prohibit NETWORK Advocates from engaging in most political and legislative activities as well as political campaign activity for or against political candidates.
As a result, NETWORK Advocates contributions support the following activities:
- The development of educational resources, such as study guides and fact sheets
- The planning and execution of workshops and curricula in our NETWORK Education Toolbox
- Leadership, advocacy, and other trainings for our Grassroots Advocates Teams in local communities
