Dream Act Supports a ‘Future of Transformative Social Change’

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 4, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C.—In response to today’s reintroduction of the Dream Act, which would offer a path to earned citizenship to undocumented young people who were brought into the U.S. as children, Laurie Carafone, Executive Director of NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice, issued the following statement:

“Guided by a shared belief in inherent human dignity, the Dream Act is the bold and forward-thinking policy our communities need today. At a time when families, small businesses, and educational institutions are enduring unprecedented hardship, it offers a clear path to earned citizenship for Dreamers – young immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and have become vital contributors to our society. The bipartisan leadership of Senators Murkowski and Durbin shines as a model of unity. It shows the way toward a future of transformative social change, echoing the Catholic Social Justice tradition. NETWORK wholeheartedly supports this legislation.”

Founded by Catholic Sisters in 1971, NETWORK is an inclusive, national, Catholic advocacy organization open to all who share our values, working for justice and equity for everyone.
