Washington DC: On September 17, NETWORK’s famous Nuns on the Bus will launch a new bus trip for justice. Traveling to 10 states in a bus emblazoned with the words “We the People, We the Voters,” the Catholic Sisters, led by Sister Simone Campbell*, will engage thousands of people with the goal of greatly expanding voter engagement this November.

Billions of dollars are pouring into election campaigns from people and corporations at the top of the wealth ladder. This means that their voices are growing correspondingly louder and more powerful in Congress, at the expense of the vast majority of people in our nation. It is time for We the People to act.

The solution: VOTE!

Only strong voter turnout will counter today’s corrupting power of big money. Together, we can elect candidates who will govern for the 100% about “We the People,” all of us, building a more perfect union.

For the next few weeks, the Nuns on the Bus will engage voters and encourage voter registration at 75 events in 36 cities along the 5,252-mile route. For more detailed information about the bus trip, go towww.nunsonthebus.org.

In 2012, NETWORK’s first Nuns on the Bus trip focused on opposition to Representative Paul Ryan’s federal budget proposal that would have decimated programs that help people at the economic margins. Subsequent trips supported immigration reform and Medicaid expansion.
