Catholic Lobby Condemns Executive Order Attacking the Rights of Federal Workers
WASHINGTON—On March 27, the Trump-Vance administration released an Executive Order that eviscerates collective bargaining for most federal employees. NETWORK Lobby’s Interim Executive Director, Joan F. Neal, shared these comments:
“This latest Executive Order guts the right of federal workers to organize and negotiate over working conditions. It impacts over one million federal employees who show up each day as nurses, postal workers, researchers, public safety officials, and more. These workers make our country better and deserve respect and support. Instead, the Trump-Vance administration treats them with cruelty.
No president, or unelected billionaire, has a right to take away job protections that our communities have fought for and earned over decades. Federal employees work on behalf of the public, not at the pleasure of the president.”
Americans have long supported the rights of workers to organize for better pay and better working conditions. For decades, Catholic Sisters and faith-filled justice-seekers have chosen solidarity with workers and love of neighbor. Catholic Social Tradition is clear: workers have the right to organize and create a better future for themselves and their families.
NETWORK joins in solidarity with the unions, led by the American Federation of Government Employees, who are fighting to right this wrong. Together, we will continue in our mission to build an economy where all people, with no exceptions, have the protection and opportunity they need to thrive.

Founded by Catholic Sisters in 1972, NETWORK is an inclusive, national, Catholic advocacy organization open to all who share our values, working for justice and equity for everyone.
