WASHINGTON—The tragic shootings at a waterfront bar in Southport, North Carolina on September 27, and a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) meetinghouse in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan on September 28 are horrific assaults against human dignity that underline the urgent need for measures to reduce gun violence in the United States, said Laurie Carafone, Executive Director of NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice:
“As a Catholic Social Justice organization, we mourn with our LDS neighbors, everyone in Grand Blanc Township, everyone in Southport, and their friends and families, for the lives lost and people injured in these horrific assaults against human dignity. NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice continues to support common sense gun control in this country.”
