Chiquita Jackson is an alumnus of Columbia College of Missouri, where she received her degree in Political Science and Sociology. As a rising leader and Detroit native, she is an experienced advocate for civil rights and liberties. Her passion lies within serving underrepresented communities through providing economic access to professional resources. Throughout her experience, Chiquita's has interned for several elected officials, including Kansas's first African-American state Senator Oletha Faust-Goudeau (D-KS), the youngest state Rep Jewell Jones (D-MI), and U.S Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD). During her time with Sen. Cardin, she assisted in drafting congressional floor statements for Black History Month and the centennial anniversary of Women's Suffrage. Chiquita plans to support her commitment for social justice through the pursuit of obtaining her law degree and becoming a civil rights attorney, and serve as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice. Where do you find inspiration for your work? - In my community - In my upbringing What do you love outside of work? - Attending different cultural events - Traveling around the world and trying an adventurous activities like snorkeling, parasailing, horseback riding in the ocean, etc - I love to go shopping because I express myself through my fashion Originally from: Detroit, MI Why do you like D.C.? - I like D.C because of the Black Excellence atmosphere that I was exposed to when I first touched down at the airport. Its aspiring and motivating to see young Black professionals from all over the country and world working hard and achieving goals.
