Reparations Press Conference and Bold Floral Installation

Join the Why We Can’t Wait Coalition for a press conference and bold floral installation (flowers donated by BLK FLWR MRKT) on The White House Ellipse on Thursday, June 16, 2022. The efforts are to follow up on a formal request issued on May 4, 2022 urging President Biden to sign an executive order for an H.R.40-style federal reparations committee.

The Why We Can’t Wait Coalition, coordinated by Human Rights Watch, and led by dozens of faith-based and secular racial justice advocates (including the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America (N’COBRA), Color Of Change, NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice, Black Voters Matter, Rainbow PUSH Coalition, and more) urged President Biden Administration through a letter sent on May 4, 2022, to bring #ReparationsNow–before Juneteenth–by way of an executive order for an H.R.40-style federal reparations commission. This long-overdue study commission will set the country on the path to repair, healing, and equity.

We would love for you to take home a piece of the Reparations Garden. As we de-install the garden, bring home a houseplant, garden plant and a bag of mulch. No limit on how many plants one person may take. Celosia and croton plants, as well as black and red mulch. Each participant will be encouraged to sign the HR40 Reparations Bill.
