WASHINGTON – Today, in response to the Supreme Court’s decision to hear U.S. v. Texas, NETWORK Executive Director Sister Simone Campbell, SSS said:
“As a Catholic Sister and a lawyer, I am confident that the Supreme Court will make the right decision supporting the Administration. Right now, our immigrant community lives in fear. While deferred action is temporary protection until we pass immigration reform with a path to citizenship, this executive order protects mothers and fathers from being separated from their children.
“Four million of our brothers and sisters could be eligible to apply for temporary protection from deportation if the Court rejects this politically-motivated lawsuit and upholds our national obligation to welcome immigrants. The people of this nation must stand with immigrants and against the politics of fear. I trust that the justices will see it this way also.”
