WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sister Simone Campbell, SSS, Executive Director of NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice, said the following after learning of  Judge Gorsuch’s nomination to the Supreme Court:

“I have grave concerns about the suitability of Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch. His understanding of religious liberty seems to be highly flawed by his extreme preference for big business over the religious beliefs of their employees. His ruling in Hobby Lobby is neither the best of faith nor in keeping with our Constitution. NETWORK seeks a Supreme Court Justice who acknowledges that true religious freedom does not value the beliefs of Christians or wealthy business owners over the interests of people with different faith beliefs.”
