NETWORK Celebrates Passage of 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act

NETWORK and Faith Groups Advocated for Bipartisan Housing Solution

June 24, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C.— In response to the House finalizing the passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act last night, NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice Senior Director of Public Policy and Government Relations Laura Peralta-Schulte issued the following statement:

“We’re overjoyed to celebrate there is new hope for families and individuals to soon be in a home of their own. The Catholic tradition affirms that stable housing is a fundamental right rooted in the dignity of every person, and since the beginning of the 119th Congress NETWORK and our faith partners have advocated for the ROAD to Housing legislation to address our national housing shortage.

“We are thankful for the bipartisan leadership that shows what is possible when lawmakers work across the aisle to improve people’s lives. Senators Tim Scott and Elizabeth Warren, as well as House leaders Representatives French Hill and Maxine Waters, helped lead on this housing solution. It’s a comprehensive, supply-side solution that tackles the housing crisis affecting millions of Americans. It addresses corporate ownership of single-family homes and advances real solutions to increase the supply of affordable housing, promote homeownership, and reform federal programs to better serve our communities, especially working families and veterans.

“Today marks a new chapter in the fight for housing justice, and we are grateful for all our advocates who called and wrote to their senators and representatives and urged them to vote for the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act. Their steadfast advocacy helped move this bill closer to President Trump’s desk for signing.”
