NETWORK Mourns the Passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Sr. Simone: “We have lost a titan for justice who has been an inspiration to NETWORK’s community of Catholic advocates.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tonight, we grieve the loss of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Her work for women and the vulnerable has been an inspiration to NETWORK’s community of justice-seekers. She will be deeply missed.

The next Justice who follows in her footsteps must continue to advocate for the equally sacred issues that Pope Francis calls all people of good faith to defend: the vulnerable, those in poverty, and immigrants. Until an appointee is presented who can meet this call, as Justice Ginsburg did, the Senate must not consider filling the vacancy.

Sister Simone Campbell, SSS, Executive Director of NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice said:

“We have lost a titan for justice who has been an inspiration to NETWORK’s community of Catholic advocates. Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a pioneer for women and a champion for the equally sacred issues of civil rights, workers rights, immigrant rights, LGBTQ equality, and racial justice. She always found opportunities to work for the common good. Her sharp mind, keen wit, and forthright manner was gift to the American people. She will be sorely missed. May we honor her by picking up her commitment to justice.”
