Grassroots Education and Organizing Specialist
Sister Eilis McCulloh, HM, has spent the past decade working in refugee resettlement and immigration work as a case manager and advocate in St. Cloud, MN, Akron, OH, and Cleveland, OH. Currently, Sister Eilis is Board President and Family Support Co-Chair of Akron Interfaith Immigration Advocates. Recently, she spent time studying Spanish in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. She received a Master’s in Theology and Religious Studies from John Carroll University and is currently attending The University of Akron School of Law.
Where do you find your inspiration for work?
– The refugees and immigrants that I have worked and lived alongside as they began new lives in the United States.
– The history of Social Justice work in my HM community
– Sharing ideas, hopes, and dreams with other co-conspirators for justice
What do you love outside of work?
– Gardening (urban/community gardening)
– Anything outside (swimming, hiking, biking)
– Laughing and spending time with friends, family, and community
