Catholic Lobby Urges Senate to Confirm Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today the Senate will vote on the confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson as the next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Her nomination and elevation to the court will be a historic step in the Court reflecting the diversity of the United States. Catholic Sisters and Advocates of NETWORK Lobby across the country urge every Senator to vote “YES” to confirm Judge Jackson as the next Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

“Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination and elevation to the Supreme Court is indicative of the necessary forward steps our nation must take to rectify the discrimination towards generations of Black women who have been locked out of opportunities to serve as critically needed decision-makers. Judge Jackson’s professional experience as a public defender, a civil rights lawyer, and participation on the Bipartisan Sentencing Commission will lend an important and needed perspective to the Supreme Court’s deliberations. Her work to eliminate racial disparities in sentencing and ensure just and fair outcomes for defendants demonstrates her dedication to the lofty ideals of our nation’s founding documents of equal justice and human dignity of all.”
