Catholic Sisters of NETWORK Applaud Introduction of For The People Act in the Senate
Sr. Quincy: “The will of the people and the movement of the Spirit are ushering the For the People Act forward.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Senate companion to the “For the People Act” was released, a critical step toward restoring faith in our government and breathing new life into our democracy. NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice issued the following statement:

Sister Quincy Howard, OP, Government Relations Advocate for NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice said:

“The Catholic Sisters and 100,000 activists of NETWORK applaud Senators Tom Udall, Jeff Merkley, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, and Senate Democrats for their leadership in introducing the Senate companion to the “For the People Act.”

“Our advocacy at NETWORK is rooted in Catholic faith, which teaches that we have a responsibility to participate in politics out of a concern for our sisters and brothers. The “For the People Act” is a visionary, state-tested legislative package that returns control of our government to the people — in accordance with our nation’s ideals.

“Momentum is building and the path to reclaim the power of the people is clear. Leader McConnell owes it to the nation to allow a vote in the Senate so people can know where their elected leaders stand on this critical legislation. His refusal to allow debate and consideration reveals his affinity with the status quo: a broken political system and a culture of corruption. The will of the people and the movement of the Spirit are ushering the “For the People Act” forward.”
